I’m excited to announce that my project “ERBSENZÄHLER Quality Sorter V2” is featured in the latest issue of Antennae: The Journal of Nature in Visual Culture on the topic of Dataism. This issue investigates the profound impact of AI, data analysis, and automation on art-making and curatorial practices, with a focus on ecocritical themes.
My project explores the increasing quantification of life and raises critical questions about the hidden subjectivity behind seemingly objective data. The “EZ Quality Sorter V2” invites visitors to take part in the sorting process, revealing how decisions that appear automated are rooted in human biases. The work challenges the belief that data is inherently neutral and instead highlights the complexity of classification systems and their social implications.
Many thanks to Giovanni Aloi for this opportunity to contribute to such a timely and relevant conversation. The issue is available for free download at www.antennae.org.uk.
